First Timer’s Guide: What to Expect at a Clothing-Optional Men’s Lodge

ree

This guide is for you if you’ve never been to Twin Ponds Lodge, or any clothing-optional campground. If you’re brand new to the experience, whether solo or with friends who are also first-timers, you’re in the right place.
When you visit, you’ll be joining the TPL Social Club, a private, men-only club that’s not open to the public. This private club structure is what allows us to offer a safe, welcoming space where the rules are created by the membership itself. Membership is open to all men (cis or trans), regardless of body type, ethnicity, age, or chromosomes. Clothing is always optional, and our focus is on creating an inclusive, supportive environment.
You can review our full membership agreement and mission statement on our website before you arrive. You can even pre-sign the membership agreement online to save time at check-in, making your arrival that much smoother.

Arriving for the First Time: What Actually Happens?

When you come into the office for the first time, you’ll most likely meet one of the owners or perhaps Ranger Alli. You’ll need to present a valid ID that shows you’re over 18. Membership in the TPL Social Club is required upon your first check-in, no one can explore the property without joining. We’ll walk you through the membership process, confirm your agreement, answer any questions, and get you set up for your stay. Whether you’re solo or with friends, you’ll find plenty of friendly faces around.
  • Tour: After check-in, you’ll get a quick tour of the lodge and grounds, including the main hall, wet room, pool, trails, and your accommodations.
  • Getting Settled: Whether you’re in a tent, cabin, or RV, you’ll have time to get your bearings. No one’s rushing you into anything.

Clothing-Optional: What Does That Really Mean?

It’s just what it sounds like, wear as much or as little as you want, anywhere on the property. There’s zero expectation to undress, and nobody’s judging. Some guests stay fully clothed all weekend; others embrace the freedom right away. The only rule is respect: for yourself, for others, and for everyone’s comfort level.

What to Expect During Your Stay

  • Community Vibe: We’re big on community, not cliques. Solo guests are always welcome at group meals, events, and activities. Potluck dinners, karaoke, and billiards tournaments are great ways to break the ice.
  • Events & Activities: There’s always something happening, pool parties, hikes, bonfires, themed weekends, and more. Join in as much or as little as you want. No pressure, ever.
  • Privacy & Safety: We take privacy seriously, no photos without consent, and your info stays confidential. If you have concerns, staff are always around to help.
  • All Kinds of Men: Our membership includes men of all body types, all ethnicities, all ages, and all possible chromosomes. If you’re nervous about being seen, know that everyone here started as a first timer too, and you’ll find acceptance here.

Common Questions (and Honest Answers)

  • "Do I have to be nude?" Absolutely not. You do you. Comfort is the priority.
  • "What if I don’t know anyone?" That’s normal! That's why your here, to meet this community, to make new friends. Most first timers don’t know anyone when they first arrive. You’ll find it easy to connect at meals or events, and there are always friendly faces around.
  • "What if I feel awkward?" That’s part of the adventure. Give yourself time. Most guests relax quickly once they realize how welcoming the space is.

What Does It Cost?

The cost for your first day is $80—$40 for a one-year membership and $40 for your day pass. Your TPL Social Club membership is good for one year from the date you join, and your day pass gives you access to the lodge until closing that night. If you have a free pass, your entire first day is free: that covers both your one-day TPL Social Club membership and your day pass.
If you’re staying overnight, you’ll pay $40 for the annual membership, plus the prevailing rate for your tent site or lodging. (Overnight lodging always includes your day pass.) Reservations are strongly recommended if you plan to stay overnight or want to secure a tent site. You can make a reservation online before you officially become a member, your membership will be finalized and activated upon check-in, starting on the date you arrive.

Final Thoughts

Coming to Twin Ponds Lodge for the first time, solo or with friends, can feel like a big step. But you’re about to join a community that is, in the best possible way, absolutely ridiculous. Think: spontaneous pool noodle battles, drag bingo that gets a little too competitive, grown men in onesies at the bonfire, and inside jokes that make zero sense until you’ve been here five minutes. We celebrate childishness, irreverence, and a sense of humor that’s equal parts campy and heartfelt. If you’re worried about fitting in, just remember: everyone here is a little weird, a little wild, and always ready to welcome someone new. We’re here to answer questions, offer a laugh, and make sure your first experience is as comfortable and as fun, silly, and memorable as possible.
