Built on Purpose: Community, Consent, and the Full Range of Us

Twin Ponds Lodge is easy to misunderstand if you’re looking for a shortcut.
People love to compress places like this into a single idea—something neat and dismissible. And when they do, it’s usually not because they’ve taken the time to see how the place actually works. It’s because reducing something complex makes it easier to judge from a distance.
Here’s what I’ll say plainly: when someone gets condescending about the sexual side of Twin Ponds Lodge, it often has less to do with us and everything to do with them. That old reflex to act like sex is either a joke, a scandal, or something you’re supposed to keep hidden.
We’re not interested in keeping up that act.
We built this on purpose
Twin Ponds Lodge isn’t an accident. It’s not a loophole. It’s not a “whatever happens, happens” situation we shrug at.
We work hard—every day—to create a space that is community-focused and member-led. A place that can be whatever an individual member needs it to be on a given weekend: a reset, a social outlet, a quiet retreat, a place to laugh too loud, a place to be seen, a place to disappear into the woods for a few hours and come back feeling human again.
That doesn’t happen by magic. It happens through design, boundaries, consistency, and a lot of unglamorous work.
Yes, we have spaces with a bathhouse vibe
Let’s be honest: we have a large lodge—about 9,000 square feet—and we’ve divided it intentionally. We have designated spaces for different kinds of experiences.
Some of those spaces are set up for sex. That’s true. It’s not a secret. It’s not something we pretend doesn’t exist. It’s part of the ecosystem here.
And if you want specifics, we’re not shy about them. Those spaces include:
The Bears Den
The Little Den
Private rooms in the pool area
The Cockpit (opened last year, right in the middle of our trail system)
And it’s also not the whole story.
Because in the same building, on the same property, you’ll also find:
An indoor pool and pool lounge
A full bar and a real dining room
A full commercial kitchen (the kind that makes community meals possible)
A steam room, a hot tub, and a wood-fired dry sauna
A wall of movies, books, and games
Two pool tables and an electronic dartboard
A TV and gaming area
Step outside and it keeps going:
An outdoor camper’s kitchen
Three community fire pits
A pond-side lounge area
A pond that’s perfect for skinny dipping, complete with a dock
Miles of trails
Acres of fields and woods to explore
All of it clothing optional. All of it built with privacy in mind.
And when it comes to staying here, we’re not talking about a single room and a towel. We’re talking about a whole campground and lodging mix:
50 tent sites
RVs for rent
Seasonal campsites that are always fully booked
Transient RV sites
7 cabins
7 glamping tents
So yes—there are spaces here that carry that bathhouse vibe.
But if someone looks at all of that and still insists on one label, they’re not describing Twin Ponds Lodge.
They’re telling on themselves.
Sex positive means no shame—and no pressure
You don’t have to come to Twin Ponds Lodge “for sex” to appreciate what we’re doing here.
We celebrate the fact that adults are sexual human beings. We don’t shame it. We don’t treat it like a dirty secret. And we don’t pretend it isn’t part of our culture.
But sex positivity isn’t a demand. It’s not an expectation. It’s not a vibe you have to perform to belong.
Sex positivity means respecting everyone’s rights and boundaries—and honoring the full spectrum of sexualities.
That includes:
The guy who wants to flirt
The guy who doesn’t
The guy who’s loud
The guy who’s shy
The guy who’s here to hook up
The guy who’s here to heal
The guy who’s here for the trails and the coffee and the quiet
The guy who’s asexual—because yes, that’s a sexuality too
